Weekly Highlights #45

The content we consume can consume us, if we are not mindful enough. In this period of information overload and analysis paralysis, The ‘Weekly Highlights’ collects the 3, most valuable pieces of content I have come across during the week, and packages them in a single page, with some notes and key highlights, so to foster mindful and intentional consumption of content, which can truly add value to our life.

The War of Art: how to beat procrastination | Ali Abdaal

This video is based on Steven Pressfield’s book The War of Art.

Resistance is the deep source of procrastination. It is what prevents us from doing things that really move the needle in our life. Resistance is activated by fear, and compounds in a vicious cycle.

Two antidotes to Resistance are:

Professionals show up everyday, no matter what. They take feedback without egoic reactions and are intrinsically eager to improve. This reminds me of this post by James Clear.

  • Banish the Ego

The Ego gives into resistance. It is constantly focused on "I" and external events. The self can beat resistance. This is the authentic self.

Striking a balance between the two polarizing forces is not a simple endeavor. In this conversation, clinical psychologist and author dr. Jordan B. Peterson shares insightful thoughts about the current situation, as well as life in general.
