How to Sync Jira to Notion (Notion Native Jira Sync)
In Notion, you can sync Jira issues, tasks, projects, and more via the native Jira integration. This sync doesn’t require any external integrations; it only requires connecting your Jira instance to Notion by using your Jira admin email, instance URL, and API token.
This is a valuable use case for building custom views and charts of your Jira data in Notion, as well as connecting it with other systems/databases within your Notion workspace.
When you type “/Jira” on any Notion page, you can find all the available Jira sync options natively supported in the app. This content focuses on Synced Databases, which can be synced one-way (read-only in Notion) or two-way (read and write, updates made in Notion reflected in Jira—*available only on the Enterprise plans, and not all properties are supported—*more on this below).

How to Sync Jira to Notion - Steps
Watch the video to visualize the full process.
1. Start the sync
On any Notion page, type “/Jira” and choose Jira Sync.
Sign in to your Jira instance if prompted (as mentioned, you will need your Jira admin email, instance URL, and API token).
2. Pick where to create it
Choose the Notion teamspace for the new synced database. In Notion, a Teamspace is an organizational layer of information that groups databases/pages on the left sidebar.
Name the database.
3. Choose Jira scope
Select one or many Jira projects to sync. You can edit this setting at any time via the synced database settings.
4. Choose fields to sync
Pick the properties you want from Jira, e.g., Status, Assignee, Created, Updated, Priority, URL, Linked issues, etc. You can add/remove synced fields at any time via the synced database settings. Find a list of currently unsupported Jira fields in Notion synced database here.
5. Set the time filter
Choose what to sync. You can only sync items created or updated within the last year, currently.
6. Understand the result
Two related Notion databases are created (Issues and Projects). Each Issue relates to a Project. Properties map to Notion types correctly (Status → status, Assignee → person, Due date → date, etc.). You can customize the Notion database, including grouping, sorting, freezing columns, and showing/hiding properties, all of which are supported like in any other Notion data source. Still, layout customization (customizing the appearance of the open page) isn’t currently supported.
A Note on Two-Way Sync (Jira <> Notion)
Two-way sync in Jira synced databases is only available on Enterprise plans and was launched in late November 2025. When setting up your Jira synced database, you will see the option to enable two-way sync. You can always edit this option via the synced database source settings (located in the dedicated option on the top right of the data source views).
Currently, not all properties can be edited in Notion for two-way sync. While testing, I noticed that you can edit the Assignee, Status, and Priority of issues, but not other properties. More properties will likely be supported in the future as this feature is being rolled out.
Edits made in Notion are immediately synced back to Jira, and edits are attributed to the Jira admin account you used to set up the synced database in Notion.
The 2-way sync toggle (only available on Enterprise plans) can be switched on via the database source settings
Edits synced in Jira from Notion are attributed to the Jira admin user who connected Jira in Notion
FAQs
How are Jira custom fields handled? Can I add them later without breaking existing views?
Primitive (string, number, date, select, person, date) custom fields are supported like any other field. You can include them in the synced database at any time via the synced database settings. Find a list of currently unsupported Jira fields in Notion synced database here.
How are sub‑tasks, epics, and linked issues represented? Can I roll up epics easily?
These are represented as Relations in Notion, which allow for rollups and other formulas referencing the properties. See the “Work items” section in the official docs for more details.
Can I restrict who in Notion can edit when two‑way is enabled?
Yes, since this is a Notion database, you can manipulate access via the dedicated “Share” menu at the top right corner. Learn more about access in Notion here.
