Weekly Highlights #32

The content we consume can consume us, if we are not mindful enough. In this period of information overload and analysis paralysis, The ‘Weekly Highlights’ collects the 3, most valuable pieces of content I have come across during the week, and packages them in a single page, with some notes and key highlights, so to foster mindful and intentional consumption of content, which can truly add value to our life.

Intentional content consumption, in an era in which the amount of content we expose ourselves to can consume us, if we are not mindful enough. 🐘

The Future Authoring Program

The “Future Authoring Program” is a goal-setting, future-oriented writing and thinking practice which is designed to set long (or short) term objectives in life, be specific about them, and try to define a clear path to follow in order to maximize chances of success. It involves a lot of writing, thinking, letting go of internal resistance. I find it interesting and complete, as it allows to develop some sort of vision for ourselves, which seems to be beneficial in order to not end up feeling miserable or in some dark psychological place in life. They are offering a 50% discount on the program (using code “FA2021”).

If productivity can be defined as doing what is truly essential to us, implementing intentional strategies, then developing a clear mindedness on our future vision is certainly a key element of productivity. Or else, how would we know if we are being actually productive?

The Philosophy of Time Management

A thought-provoking perspective on time management and the deep, philosophical meaning of it, in a world in which time management is very often associated to specific techniques aimed at using time in the most optimal/money-producing manner.

Here is what philosopher Seneca had to say about the use of time.

Why Be Productive? | Deep Questions with Cal Newport

In episode number 59 of the podcast, computer science professor and author Cal Newport answers some questions on productivity, deep work, intentional systems to do meaningful work, and the deep life.

This article of his treating neurobiology and deep work is also rather interesting from my point of view.

Quote of the week

“My formula for greatness in a human being is amor fati: that one wants nothing to be different, not forward, not backward, not in all eternity. Not merely bear what is necessary, still less conceal it — but love it”
— Friedrich Nietzsche
